Share the Covers--Toxic

I've already done a Share the Covers feature on this Britney Spears classic (a punk rock version that you can see here), but seeing as she just killed it at the Billboard Music Awards, I'm in the mood for another cover.  Here is the original by Ms. Spears . . .

And this really sweet cover by Melanie Martinez . . .

Make it Work Monday #41

Lynzy & Co., formerly Sparkling Footsteps, has been a blog I have followed since my early years of blogging.  I really liked her style and found it fascinating that she was a doctor!  I don't know why, but I always feel that bloggers with a full time career outside of blogging are just really inspirational (not that full time bloggers are not . . . come on now . . . don't read into it).   I followed her through both of her pregnancies (she now has two adorable baby girls) and her blog change from style to lifestyle.  Her Instagram really gets me because every picture of her home is absolutely adorable.

These bell bottoms are actually from a local Colorado boutique, Inspyre, which is one of my favorites.  They have SUCH cute stuff and I seriously stalked these pants since I first saw them last FALL!  Finally I decided to take the plunge and buy them and I have not regretted it since.  Seriously you guys--so comfy.  And I have worn them damn near once a week in real life.  And I cannot tell you how many compliments I get on basically wearing my pajamas outside the house.

Mission #83, Day 5

Lace can also be professional--especially when it comes in the form of a pencil skirt.  Add a structured peplum top, bag and wedges and your spring/summer office ready!

Mission #83, Day 4

This is a more boho kind of way to wear lace.  I really love the boho flair of these bell bottoms.  And even though a muscle tee with rappers on it, might not be boho, you could totally sport this look to a music festival. Bonus points to this outfit for doubling up on the lace with the bandeau peeking out of the muscle tee.

Mission #83, Day 3

Lace is extremely versatile.  In fact, you can even toughen it up with a pair of leather pants--in this case joggers--for a fun way to sport the delicate fabric.

Mission #83, Day 2

Here's another take on the lace trend--a 90's grunge look that pairs a black lace shirtdress with a floral kimono and combat boots.  I added milkmaid braids for that extra alternative spin.

Mission #83, Day 1--Lace

For some reason, I always love lace in the springtime.  So this week, we are going to be exploring different ways to wear lace.  Today, I made this lacy blouse the center of this vintage-inspired look.  I topped the blouse with some linen trousers, clogs and a straw sunhat.
