Mission #77, Day 1--Power Suits

Last Mission Week was all about being bold and showing skin.  This week is the opposite.  We are keeping it real professional this week.  But that doesn't have to mean boring!  I have worked with lawyers for the past 7 years and I have seen many lawyers with many different styles.  I've been lucky enough to work with some super stylish lawyers, but for the most party lawyers are known for their neutral pallets of blazers and trousers or pencil skirts.  In today's example, we have a grey suit.  But differing the shades of grey with the trousers and the blazer makes it interesting, but subdued enough for that big Court appearance or office presentation.

Dear Frannie Friday--Best Friday Songs

I have to say, so far . . . 2016 . . . not my fave.  But it is Friday and that is always a good thing.  So here are some of my favorite Friday jams (and yes, they are almost all hip hop, no I am not sorry and no this song is NOT included):

Thursday Mixer--Black Leather Pencil Skirt

Sometimes when I'm thrifting I run into this trifecta where I find several of one amazing thing.  When I thrifted this black leather pencil skirt, I simultaneously found a short black leather skirt, so this one doesn't get as much wear as it probably should.  Especially since it is totes work approps.  So I have only worn this particular skirt three ways, for a price per wear of about $5, which is still totally not bad.  And, as you can see, it can be styled for work or casual.  It is a great way to add edge to an outfit without being overkill.

Wordy Wednesday--Dance

My fifteen year old, Kaden, has been going through a really rough time.  He has recently experienced his first real heartbreak and it has been pretty rough.  I'm not going to go into how rough but I will say that it has truly broken my own heart to watch him so devastated.  But after weeks of feeling like he would never be "up" again, he randomly got invited to do his favorite thing in the whole entire world: he got invited to a dance.  He got invited by a girl that he used to go to school with that moved to a teeny tiny town in a different state that we were visiting this weekend.  And he was adorned by ALL.  THE.  LADIES.  And he was himself and confident because he was the out of town kid and, of course, the kid can really dance.  So this Wordy Wednesday is about the absolute magic of DANCE.

Share the Covers--Love the Way You Lie

Since we just did a week of Rihanna, what better way to keep the fun going than by doing a cover of this song . . .

And the cover by Skylit Drive, which I have to say, HUGE fan . . .

Make it Work Monday #34

The best style blogs in my opinion combine humor, style and honesty.  Ali's blog The Drawing Mannequin does just that.  Her fun little anecdotes always make me smile and although she is quite a bit younger than I am (cough, cough, by over a decade . . .), I can still find them relateable.  I believe her mom does her photography, but whoever does it, they are amazing at detail shots.  This kid's a natural folks.  Check her out.
